In an exclusive interview with Australian Boxing Central, Dib comments on his preparation for the clash with Norfat, and plans to regain the IBF Super Featherweight Title.
You've had two strong performances in 2016. How would you rate those performances, and what style of fighter are you up against when you clash with Tanzanian boxer Emilio Norfat?
Dib: 2016 thus far has been a positive year for me boxing wise, both those wins help catapult me back to #3 in the world with the IBF. Both my opponents were battle tested and brought the best out of me. Dec 16th I will look to continue my form with a big win against Emilio Norfat- he is an aggressive man so you can all expect fireworks I'm looking to make a big statement KO.
You're a young veteran- aged just 31 but with 45 pro fights to your name, including 41 wins. How is the body and mind feeling at this stage of your career, and what drives and motivates you to fight your way back to world title contention once again?
Dib: I'm feeling extremely motivated, I feel physically fine my health is in tact I'm a clean living Muslim & I feel I have a lot to fight for, winning brings me great happiness I was born to be a winner.
Let's go back to July 29, 2011. You beat Jorge Lacierva to claim the IBF world featherweight title, in front of your hometown fans in Sydney. Firstly, what was the feeling like holding the belt inside that ring, and secondly, what sacrifices are you making to ensure that you can once again become champion of the world?
Dib: 29th of July is definitely the greatest night of my sporting career. Winning that world title took a heavy weight off my shoulders- it was everything I had envisioned it to be and more. Waking up the next day knowing that I had finally made it the best in the WORLD meant so much to me and all those who supported the journey. Dec 16th I continue the journey- another step closer to another championship. I refuse to be denied. I will be world champion come 2017. I want to thank all my amazing supporters you're all greatly appreciated.
