The night kicked off with Felipe Ferreira scoring a points win over Pramool Boonpok. From there, local fighter Ben Dencio scored his third career win, beating Jaturapat Kaewa by third round KO.
Then, it was on to the main event. Toussaint had already scolded Talipeau on social media for failing to make weight, saying “he should have trained harder”, but that was nothing in comparison to the in-ring beating that Toussaint would dish out.
Toussaint won every round prior to the stoppage, and extended his 2016 ledger to 3-0 (3 KO's), and go 10-0 (8 KO's) overall, in scoring a victory over Talipeau.
When asked about the weight saga, Toussaint was frank in his assessment, revealing the edge that it gave him mentally-
“It didn't annoy me, I just thought it was a little unprofessional. I train hard and make sure I'm on weight every time, and if I wasn’t gonna make weight, I'd know. It gave me confidence that he didn't make it, I'd already won the first battle on the scales, and even if he was trying to play games they weren’t bothering me.”
Toussaint acknowledged the quality of his opponent, when assessing his performance.
“I thought I boxed well, Talipeau is a good fighter who's been in with some really good guys, so I'm glad to get a win over him. I’ve got a great team around me, and I think I’ve improved a lot over this last 12 months. Obviously (there’s) always things to work on back in the gym, but happy days.”
With the end of the year approaching, Toussaint was asked for a glimpse of what 2017 may hold.
“Not sure what’s next, but this is definitely a good way to cap off the year. I'll keep in the gym over summer, and see what unfolds early next year.”
