The two will square off on February 4th at the Olympia, in Kensington, London on ITV's first PPV boxing event. With the odd-makers placing Quinlan at 12/1 to win the fight against Eubank, the fight left many scratching their heads after it was announced- with many pundits believing it would be an easy win for the Briton.
Quinlan, however, is adamant that he's here to not only win- but to catapult his career to the next stage with a dominant performance:
Quinlan: "I'm not here to stay busy like other fighters- I'm here to take on the best. The same people that doubted me against Geale will do the same this time. All I can say is that he’s underestimated me- which is exactly what Geale did, and you saw what happened to him."
With many of the bookies also placing Quinlan at 8/1 odds to beat Geale, Renold believes that he's comfortable in continuing to prove his place in the super middleweight division, by stamping out his underdog status.
Quinlan: "When I beat Eubank, I'll get a DeGale, GGG or Saunders fight next. I believe I belong with these great fighters and come next Saturday I'm going to shock the world again."
Light-heavyweight world champion Andre Ward (31-0), who is commentating the bout believes that Quinlan is in a good place heading into the fight with Eubank
Ward: "Renold Quinlan is certainly no pushover and doesn’t seem the least bit intimidated about fighting 10,000 miles from home. He doesn’t have the experience Eubank has, but his knockout win over Daniel Geale proved that he is comfortable in the role of an underdog and that he will be coming to fight in his first bout outside his native Australia."
In conclusion, Quinlan had the following to say-
Quinlan: "I'm fighting for my family- my wife and kids and to be the best person I can be. I'm quietly spoken but if you come at me like Eubank said he’s going to do, then you’ll see a different me."
